A Strong and Comprehensive Network

Nationwide entrepreneur organizations have been active in Finland for more than 100 years, beginning in 1898. Suomen Yrittäjät was born in 1996 after the merger of two previous entrepreneur organizations.

The strength of the organization its comprehensive network of 20 regional associations, with almost 400 local societies and 62 trade associations under the regional associations. This network covers the retail, industry, transportation, handicrafts, and service fields. Our membership consists of more than 115,000 enterprises of all sizes, covering the entire business spectrum.

Almost half of all the private enterprises of Finland are members of our organization. Of these, more than 50,000 are companies with employees, representing half of all employers in Finland. These member companies provide jobs for a total of 554,000 employees and entrepreneurs.

The entire organizational chain in Suomen Yrittäjät is involved in lobbying activities. The local societies play an important role in economic policies at municipal and district levels. Regional associations have considerable influence in their own regions and counties. Suomen Yrittäjät promotes the interests of enterprises with the government, ministries, parliament, and major interest groups, nationally and in the European Union.

Suomen Yrittäjät works in cooperation with trade and professional organizations, while these organizations concentrate on promoting the interests of their respective fields.
