A Strong and Comprehensive Network

Nationwide entrepreneur organisations have been active in Finland for more than 100 years, beginning in 1898. The Federation of Finnish Enterprises was born in 1996 after the merger of two previous entrepreneur organisations.

The strength of the organisation its comprehensive network of 20 regional organisations, with almost 400 local associations and 62 trade associations under the regional organisations. This network covers the retail, industry, transportation, handicrafts, and service fields. Our membership consists of more than 115,000 enterprises of all sizes, covering the entire business spectrum.

Almost half of all the private enterprises of Finland are members in our federation. Of these, more than 50,000 are companies with employees, representing half of all employers in Finland. These member companies offer jobs for a total of 554,000 employees and entrepreneurs.

The entire organisational chain in the Federation is involved in lobbying activities. The local associations play an important role in economic policies at municipal and district levels. Regional organisations have considerable influence in their own regions and counties. The Federation of Finnish Enterprises promotes the interests of enterprises with the government, ministries, parliament, and major interest organisations, nationally and within the European Union.

The Federation of Finnish Enterprises works in cooperation with trade and professional organisations, while these organisations concentrate on promoting the interests of their respective fields.
