Working internationally

Suomen Yrittäjät aims to promote entrepreneurship in the European Union, and other international bodies, mainly by influencing the actions of the Finnish government in the European Union. Additionally, Suomen Yrittäjät influences European organizations and the EU institutions.

Suomen Yrittäjät appoints prominent people from the leadership of each business sector to follow international developments within their field of responsibility.

Suomen Yrittäjät is a member of SMEUnited, the European umbrella organization for SME federations, which aims to monitor and influence EU legislation. SMEUnited comprises enterprise organizations from all European Union member countries and accession countries. Key issues in the operations of SMEUnited are influencing the European Parliament, the Council of Ministers and the European Commission.

Additionally, SMEUnited is one of the parties in the social dialogue preparations at EU level. It participates actively in the preparation of standards. Suomen Yrittäjät enjoys good working relations with other Nordic enterprise federations. These federations organize a joint meeting each year to monitor developments across the Nordic countries. Suomen Yrittäjät also has a representative the European Economic and Social Committee.

Collaboration with the Entrepreneurs’ organizations around the Baltic Sea is important. In Russia our partner is the entrepreneurs’ organization Opora. Through them our members also get help and contacts in operations on the Russian market. The longest cooperation traditions are with Företagarna in Sweden. Their organization is similar to ours both in terms of structure and services offered to members.
