Business Cost Support VI open for applications in last week of April: free info session for applicants coming up

The sixth round of Business Cost Support is primarily aimed at businesses in the hospitality, catering and events sectors.

Applications for the sixth round of Business Cost Support will open on Tuesday 26 April. The period for which the support can be applied (“support period”) is 1 December 2021 to 28 February 2022.

Suomen Yrittäjät and the State Treasury are holding an information session about Business Cost Support on Wednesday 6 April from 09.30 to 10.30.

Participants will learn who can receive the support, what the application criteria are, and what the support can be awarded for. It will be possible to submit written questions during the information session. You can register for the session here.

No limits to business size

The sixth round of Business Cost Support is primarily aimed at businesses in the hospitality, catering and events sectors, as well as businesses in other selected sectors which have suffered from milder restrictions. Business Cost Support is not limited to businesses of a particular size. If your business receives Closure Compensation, this will be deducted from your Business Cost Support.

A business that does not operate in a sector listed in the Act can also receive Business Cost Support if it can show in its application that its trading suffered because of official restrictions during the support period. Similarly, a business that has seen a significant share of its customers suffer from official restrictions can also apply for Business Cost Support. However, an official recommendation, such as the recommendation to work from home, does not entitle a business to the Support.

When a business applies for Business Cost Support, the comparison period is a period before the pandemic, or, for a new business, November 2021. To qualify for the Support, your business’s turnover must have dropped by 25% due to the pandemic.
