Received a letter about financial statements from the Patent and Registration Office?

The Patent and Registration Office reminds companies about the deadlines for submitting financial statements.

The Patent and Registration Office has written to over 1,600 limited companies and cooperatives to remind them of their obligation to file their financial statements. The letters were sent to companies whose financial year ended during January 2022 and which had not filed a financial statement with the trade register for that year by 9 August 2022. The letters were sent to the email address listed in the trade register, or to the business’s postal or visiting address.

The Patent and Registration Office says that the companies receiving the letter have not been late in filing their financial statements. The company may ignore the letter if it has already filed its financial statements with the trade register. You can use the financial statement search on the Patent and Registration Office’s Virre service to check free of charge whether your company’s financial statement has been registered with the trade register.

Legal obligation

By law, every limited company and cooperative must file its financial statements with the trade register for every financial year, including when trading is suspended or has ceased. Verified financial statements must be filed with the trade register within eight months of the end of the financial year.

If the financial statements are filed late, the Patent and Registration Office sends the company an €85 invoice for registration of late financial statements.

Read instructions about financial statement filing and a list of necessary documents here. The Patent and Registration Office reminds companies that it receives financial statement documents from the Tax Administration only if the documents have been filed in tax returns in precise conformity with the Tax Administration’s instructions.
