Suomen Yrittäjät single-person business activities

There are 294,965 businesses in Finland, 194,000 of which are single-person businesses (excluding farming, forestry and fisheries). The rise of single-person business ownership has been the most significant work trend of the twenty-first century. At the start of the millennium, Statistics Finland’s numbers showed that there were 123,000 single-person businesses.

Over half the members of Suomen Yrittäjät run their businesses alone. Since its foundation, Suomen Yrittäjät has strongly advocated on behalf of single-person businesses. Almost all the measures that Suomen Yrittäjät advocates to improve the conditions for running a business are also in single-person businesses’ interests.

As running a business on one’s own becomes more common, Suomen Yrittäjät must work harder to find new ways and means to improve the position of single-person businesses, in particular. Improving single-person business owners’ position is important for our members, but it is also important for us as an association. Our goal must be for Suomen Yrittäjät to be considered as an association that defends single-person businesses’ interests in society ever more strongly.

The purpose of the measures presented in the documents (in Finnish) linked to below is to further strengthen the conditions for running single-person businesses, but also to develop our associational and communication services for this important group.
